BADMINTON
WELLINGTON TOURNAMENT. LAST NIGHT’S RESULTS. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. A start was made last night with the Wellington Badminton • Association’s championships and handicaps tournament, C grade championship and handicap events being played. The entries were good, and many of the contests were close. ’ Apparaent anomalies in the handicap results are explained by the fact that the player with the lesser handicap goes to scratch, and the opponent is then handicapped to a scale. Thus the lesser handicapped player is required to play to the full points of the game —21 for men, and 15 for women. Tonight, commencing at 7.30 o’clock, A, B and C championships events will be played. The following are the results, of last night’s handicap events:— Men’s singles: First round: W. Hawker (3) beat A.
