DRAMA LEAGUE
MEETING OF EXECUTIVE FESTIVAL ARRANGEMENTS An executive meeting of the Wairarapa Drama League was held yesterday afternoon, Mr T. Jordan being in the chair. A letter was received from headquarters announcing that Miss Elizabeth Loe will be free to judge the Wairarapa festivalon October 4 and 5, and that the dates for the New Zealand semi-final, to be held this year in Masterton will be October 12 and 13. Entries for the Wairarapa festival were received from the following teams. Senior: St Andrew’s Society, Phoenix Drama Club, Knox Dramatic Club, Catholic Club, Wairarapa College, Miss Coleman’s Club, Kahautara Women’s Institute. Junior: Playbox Players, Central School. Particulars of cast, characters, producer and "a copy of the play, and a plan of the stage setting must be in the hands of the secretary, Mrs E. J. Rich, by September 5. . Appointments for the festival were made as follow:—Booking and front of house, Mr V. Joseph; publicity, Mr Kemnitz; order of programme, Mrs E. J. Rich and Miss O. R. Sutherland; printing programme, Mr J. A. Kennedy; stage manager, Mr A. Crookenden; assistant stage-manager, Miss O. R. Sutherland; tickets and ushers, Mr V. Joseph. Prices were fixed at 2s and Is 6d, with Is for school parties. Rehearsal nights will be Saturday, October 1, Monday, October 3, if the Opera House is available. It was decided that black curtains should be used for all the plays. It was announced that the New Zealand finals will be held this year at Hastings on October 26.
