WORLD RECORD

ESTABLISHED BY WELSH PARACHUTIST DELAYED DROP IN DARK LONDON, August 14. Gwynne Johns, a Welshman, parachuted from a plane 18,000 feet over Netheravon Aerodrome, Salisbury Plain, at midnight and waited 85 seconds before pulling the ripcord when he was 4000 feet above the ground, thereby breaking the world record for a delayed drop in the dark. He landed without great difficulty two miles from the aerodrome. Watchers failed to see the landing and search parties were organised, which found him uninjured at 2.15 a.m.
