NATIONAL DISASTERS
MEASURES IN EMERGENCY. PROVISIONAL PLAN SUBMITTED TO LOCAL BODIES. A provisional scheme to serve as a guide to local bodies in the event of a national disaster, such as an earthquake, has been circulated to the principal local authorities of the Dominion. A copy of the report, which consists of 105 pages of close set type, has been received by the Mayor, Mr T. Jordan, who has been appointed representative of the New Zealand Municipal Association on the Emergency Precautions Council. A comprehensive plan of campaign, dealing with the steps to be taken in the event of a disaster such as an earthquake and including, it is understood, precautions that could be applied in the event of, air raids, has been drawn up. The proposals have been circulated with the object of obtaining the criticism and the general views of local bodies.
