“THE LITTLE OLD LADY”

' DEATH IN ENGLAND. AT THE AGE OF 108 YEARS. . LONDON, August 11. England’s little old lady, Mrs Ann Stansall, of twinkling eyes and bewitching smile, who has died, aged 108 years, at Mansfield, in Nottinghamshire, is believed to be the oldest woman in the country. She had lived alone in Saint John’s Place for the past fifteen years and did her own housework, declaring “hard work- never kills” and “always have a smile.” Mrs Stansall did not wear Spectacles, heard perfectly, ate whatever she pleased and made an aeroplane flight at the age of 102. She celebrated her 108th birthday four months ago entertaining many guests for whom she poured out cups of tea and told stories of the crinoline days, “pennyfarthing” bicycles, pigtailed jacktars and slavery pressgangs. She remembered the reigns of six English monarchs. She collapsed when the guests departed, and spent the remainder of her life in bed.
