KNOX CHURCH
LADIES’ GUILD MEETING. The Knox Ladies’ Guild held another of their enjoyable social afternoons last Wednesday when they met at the residence of Mrs Carstens, Essex Street. Mrs G. W. Morice presided. On the motion of the Rev J. Davie motions of sympathy were passed to the relatives of Mrs Ross and Miss Reynolds and- to Miss McLaren in the loss of her brother. Eulogistic reference was made to the close association with the Guild for many years past of Mrs Ross and Miss Reynolds. Mrs Carstens offered to take charge of the “Bring and Buy” stall at the September meeting, which is to be held at the residence of Mrs Ractliffe, York Street. Mrs Welch promised to put flowers in the church during August. It was decided to purchase the caliphont which had been installed temporarily. > During the afternoon a “bring and buy” stall, which was conducted by Miss Wilson, realised a very satisfactory sum. An interesting programme was provided by the following ladies: Songs, Mesdames Morton and Traynor; elocutionary items, Mrs R. Miller and Miss J. Douglas. A competition was won by Mrs Morton. Afternoon tea was served and votes of thanks were- passed to the hostesses, Mesdames Carstens and Dickie, and to those who provided the programme. '
