LONDON QUOTATIONS CHILLED BEEF EASIER Lamb market: Although the demand has not been quite so good owing to hot weather, prices for primes are firm. Secondary lambs: Tendency is easier owing to over-supplies. Mutton market: Wethers and ewes. Tendency is easier owing to poor demand. Beef market: Chilled beef easier this week, owing to very hot weather. New Zealand porker pigs: Market quiet and steady excepting heavyweights, which are a shade easier in sympathy with bacon pigs. New Zealand baconer pigs: Again easier owing to heavier arrivals and weaker bacon market. Boneless bobby veal: Quotation nominal. The above report was received yesterday by the Meat Board from its London office, which advises that the following are the ruling prices of wholesale quantities of the descriptions of frozen meat mentioned, and are for representative parcels of goods sold on Thursday. Chilled beef prices are on the basis of delivered to Smithfield market. North Island ewes, under 481bs, 3 5-8 d; 48/56’s, 3Jd; 56/64’s, 3 l-8d; 64/72's, 3d. Compared with last week’s quotations, crossbred lambs, 36/421bs, l-8d per lb higher, wethers under 481 b l-8d per lb lower, ewes under 481bs l-8d per lb lower; others unchanged. The lambmarket is firm with the exceptions of seconds. The demand for N.Z. mutton is poor.
