FEILDING SALE A BRIGHTER TONE (By Telegraph—Press Association.) FEILDING, August 12. There was a definitely brighter tone in the market at the Feilding stock sale today, all stock meeting with keen competition and selling freely at advanced prices. Good prime mutton was up considerably, the yarding being well supplied with well finished lines, which produced brisk competition. Store sheep were also sought after at good prices, lambs showing an advance on recent sales of a shilling or two. For dairy stock there was a good inquiry, with select quality cows and heifers still realising attractive prices. A few head of station lines sold well in the store cattle pens, and the demand for beef opened firm. Quotations were: — Sheep: Extra prime wethers, 28s 6d to 295; prime, 26s to 27s 3d; others, 23s to 25s 6d; primest lambs, 30s; second grade, 23s 3d to 23s 9d; lighter prime, 20s to 21s 9d; unfinished, 16s 9d to 19s; extra prime ewes, 24s to 24s 9d; prime, 19s to 20s; lighter, 17s to 18s 6d; unfinished, 14s to 16s 6d; two-tooth ewes, best,, 355; others, 27s to 31s 9d; ®ur and five year ewes, 22s 6d to 24s lOd; good four-year-ewes, 26s 6d to 295; small six-tooth, 28s 8d; four and sixtooth, 355; forward wethers, 23s 4d; good ewe lambs 26s to 295; inferior, 15s; b.f. lambs, 14s 9d to 17s 9d; choice wether lambs, 20s to 21s 3d; others, 15s to 19s Bd. CARTERTON SALE Wright, Stephenson and Co Ltd. report as follows: —There was a good attendance at Carterton yesterday. There was a satisfactory enquiry for the best springing heifers and cows. Buyers used discretion in their buying, and were only interested in good quality heifers on drop, and cows with guarantees behind them. Fat and forward cows made late rates. Only a few sheep were offered and made ruling prices. .More weaner.pigs were offered than at the last "few sales, and prices were good. Porkers and bacon ers made late rates. The following were the prices realised: — Sheep—Fat hoggets, to 20s; wether hoggets, to 15s 7d;b.f. hoggets, to 13s Id. Cattle —3-year Ayrshire heifers on drop, to £lO ss; 3-year Ayrshire heifers, just calved, £4 15s to £B. 15s; 2year Jersey heifers, on drop, £5 to £7 10s; Jersey cows, due August, £5 to £9; Springing cows, £4 to £6 2s 6d; fat cows, £4 15s to £6 2s; forward cows, £2 10s to £4 2s 6d; store cows, 35s to £2 7s 6d; fat heifers, £s.to £7 ss.
