— * AUTOMOBILE ASSOCIATION. (“Times-Age” Special.) At the monthly meeting of the Wairarapa Automobile Association 59 new members were elected. A financial statement placed before the meeting showed a credit balance of £1064. The North Island Motor Union wrote stating that the annual conference would be held at Hawera. Messrs R. W. Roydhouse, H. Lawson, N. C. C. Shepherd, and another to be elected, were appointed the Association’s delegates. Mr Roydhouse was appointed the Association’s representative on the Executive Council. It was decided to allow the delegates £1 per day incidental expenses. Arising out of the Patrols’ report it was suggested that tenders be called for the reconstruction and metalling of the road into the motor camp at Mt. Holdsworth, which was reported to be in a very bad state as the result of motor traffic." Eventually the matter of forming the road was left in the hands of the Carterton committee, with power to act. It was also decided that the Carterton committee be empowered to bring the conveniences at Carter’s Bush to the same standard as those at Mt. Holdsworth. CHINESE BABY. The contributions towards the adoption of a Chinese baby under the scheme recently'announced amounted to £lB 15s.
