Mrs H. Booth, Carterton, is visiting Wellington. Miss Norma Bunny is a Masterton visitor to Wellington. Miss M. Langdon, Tinui, is leaving today (Wednesday) on an extended visit to Sydney. Miss Bessie Donald, who had spent a holiday in Hawke’s Bay, has returned to her home in Featherston. Mrs H. H. Daniell, The Terrace, Lansdowne, has returned from a short visit to Wellington. Miss A.. Bradbury will leave Wellington today to spend a six months’ holiday in Sydney. Miss Flora Peyton, of Wellington, is staying with her aunt, Mrs Norman Boyne, High Street, Carterton. Mr and, Mrs T. A. Cunningham, Pownall Street, Masterton, have returned from a short visit to Wellington. A resident of Wellington who has grown up with the city is Mrs Mary Manthel, of 61a Brougham Street, who is celebrating her ninetieth birthday today. A very pleasant function was held recently by lady members of the Riverside Golf Club, to bid farewell to Miss Belle Buckeridge, whose marriage will take place shortly. Mrs Palamontain (club captain), in a neat speech, thanked Miss Buckeridge for the interest she had always shown in the club, and, on behalf of the Thursday players, asked her to accept a crystal cream jug and sugar bowl as a slight token of their regard. Miss Buckeridge suitably replied. A very pleasant time was spent at the-home of Mr and Mrs E. V. Brabant, Masterton Road, Pahiatua, on Saturday evening, when about 40 friends gathered to welcome home Mr and Mrs A. V. Brabant from their honeymoon. During the evning a tap dance was was rendered by Mr Ray Scorgie, of Woodville,, and Mr Bob Lister, of Pahiatua, while several Hawaiian numbers were given k by Messrs Jim Bryson (jun.), A. Brabant and Ray Scorgie. Community singing was led k;y Mr Bob Bryson, the music being supplied by Miss June Dalgleish (piano) and Mr D. Bibby and Mr J. Carroll (mouth organs). Mr Lister wished Mr and Mrs Brabant every happiness in their future life, and also took the opportunity of thanking - ‘them for the hospitality shown to all those present. The function was brought to a close with the singing of “For They Are Jolly Good Fellows” and “Auld Lang Syne.”
