BASKETBALL

SECONDARY SCHOOLS. TOURNAMENT AT MASTERTON. Masterton is especially fortunate in being selected as the first centre to hold '- the quadrangular secondary schools basketball tournament, which it is hoped to make an annual fixture. A team from Dannevirke High School will arrive on Thursday evening and on Friday morning the girls from Wellington East Girls’ College and Hutt Valley High School will come to Masterton. The first round of matches will be played on Friday afternoon, commencing at 2 p.m. All interested in the games are cordially .invited to the Wairarapa College courts. The following is the Wairarapa College team to play in the tournament:— Pat Baskiville (captain), Joan Gemmell (vice-captain), Irene Shoosmith, Margaret McLaren, Violet Hendry, Elizabeth McLaren, Maureen Carroll, Nola Wilson, Connie Shearer, Isabel Dale, Doreen Dagg, Gillian Gooder.
