LONDON’S SHIPPING

During the week ended July 8, 1124 vessels, representing 1,147,371 net register tons, used the Port of London. Of these 554 vessels (891,920 net register tons) were to and from Empire and foreign ports and 570 vessels (255,451 net register tons) were engaged in coastwise traffic. The arrivals included nine meatcargoes, viz.: Four from Australia, four from New Zealand and one from South America, comprising 657,000 carcases of lamb and mutton, 86,000 quarters of beer, quantities of pork, rabbits and sundries.

Twenty-one timber laden vessels docked in the Surrey Commercial and India and Millwall Docks with 38,000 tons of softwood. Fifty-seven vessels totalling 597,388 gross register tons, used the Tilbury Passenger Landing Stage during the month of June.
