FEATHERSTON
HAUNUI CROQUET CLUB. (“Times-Age” Special.) A euchre afternoon in aid of the funds of the Haunui Croquet Club was held on Monday afternoon at the residence of Mrs White. The prize winners were: Mrs Sim 1, Mrs Austin 2; consolation, Miss Lyford. On behalf of the club Miss Eva Card thanked Mrs White for her hospitality. MINIATURE RIFLES. South Featherston put up an excellent performance in scoring 783 points in the New Zealand Miniature Rifle championship teams match, one point behind the winners, the Christchurch Working Men’s Club No. 2 team. The members of the South Featherston team are to be congratulated on their effort which was largely due to practice and good team work. ROAD WIDENING Fourteen men are engaged by the Featherston County, Council under the Government subsidised labour scheme in widening the Western Lake Road, starting from just past Mr Wilkinson’s property. The total length to be handled is about 6 miles.. The men have been employed for about a week, and are doing good work. Another batch of 14 men are working under the same scheme at Kaituna, These men have been employed for about a month, and have completed half a mile of wide?iing.
