TRUCKING YARDS

POSITION AT MASTERTON STATION SUGGESTED NEW SITE Recently several departmental officers have inspected the trucking yards at the Masterton Railway Station, the condition of which has been the subject of much adverse comment. Although no definite line of action will be decided upon until the Chief Engineer returns from holiday at the end of this month, it is understood that the officers agreed as to the necessity of carrying out improvement works. It is understood that there is a possibility of the yards being shifted to the western side of the Gas Works-fan entrance being constructed from Ngaumutawa Road. The likelihood of the site of the yards being transferred to Solway is also one that cannot be overlooked. It is stated that a conference will be held shortly between departmental engineers and representatives of Masterton stock firms and others interested to discuss improvements to the yards.
