CZECHS AND THE SUDETEN GERMANS LORD RUNCIMAN REPORTED TO BE OPTIMISTIC. ASSURANCES FROM BOTH ’ PARTIES. (Recd This Day, 10.15 a.m.) PRAGUE, Aug. 9. Viscount Runciman is authoritatively reported to be optimistic regarding the possibility of a favourable settlement of the Czech problem. Officials in contact with Lord Runciman say he is impressed by the serious desire on the part of all parties for a peaceful settlement. It is understood that he has- received assurances from the Government and the Sudeten Germans that they will compromise to a greater extent provided Britain will sponsor an eventual agreement
