COUNTY RATES

LAST DAY FOR DISCOUNT A reminder to Masterton County Council ratepayers that Thursday was the last day on which the five per cent discount was allowed in respect to this year’s rates was given at this morning’s meeting of the Finance Committee of the Masterton County Council. At noon today a sum of £3BOO had been received out of the total rates levied of £25,943. Reporting on the position, Mr J. C. D. Mackley,' County Clerk, said so far the rates had not been coming in so freely as in past years, though it was anticipated that during the next two days the staff would be kept busy receiving payments, as it was likely that a considerable sum would be paid by Thursday.
