CARTERTON

ODD FELLOWS’ LODGE. (“Times-Age” Special.) The fortnightly meeting of the Loyal Heart of Oak Lodge of Oddfellows (Manchester Unity) was held last evening, N.G. Bro. W. Wilkins presiding. Bros. C. E. White, H. J. Rathbone, A. R. Tankersley and A. J. Lindop were appointed delegates to a meeting of Wairarapa Lodge delegates to be convened for the purpose of finalising arrangements for a visit to ' Masterton early in September _of Wellington Lodge visitors. A letter of recommendation was granted a member to enable him to visit various Wellington and other Odd Fellows’ lodges. Votes of condolence were passed to Bros. R. J. and G. R. Grimmer in the death of their father, and also to Mrs M. F. King and relatives in their recent bereavement. Members stood in silence as a mark of respect. It was decided that a letter be forwarded to Dr. and Mrs W. J. C. Wells wishing them a pleasant trip to England. One member declared on the sick funds of the Lodge and four declared off the funds. Accounts amounting to £144 Os Id were passed 'for payment, including £lO 15s sick pay and £l3O death benefit. It was resolved to agree to the proposal to hold a memorial service at the Methodist Church on Sunday morning, in conjunction with the R.S.A. and Fire Brigade. Members will meet at the Lodge Room at 10.15 a.m. It is hoped a full muster will assemble to pay their respects to the memory of their departed brother, M. F. S. King. A grant was made from the lodge benevolent fund to a member who is in need. The next lodge night will be quarter night
