CANADA’S POSITION
RELATIONS WITH BRITAIN & U.S.A. TORONTO PROFESSOR’S VIEW. WITH EMPIRE PARTNERS IN MAJOR CRISIS. By Telegraph—Press Association. Copyright. SYDNEY, August 8. Addressing the Constitution Association today, Professor Alexander Brady, professor of political science at Toronto University, said that, while culturally and economically Australia’s contacts were singularly those of the Mother Country, Canada’s position was different. Canada shared North America with a great and dynamic State—another English-speaking community whose life ran in distinct channels, and which must of necessity influence Canadian life. Canadians liked to think that they had certain qualities lacking in the United States, but sub-consciously United States influence on Canadian institutions was increasing. Professor Brady added that his own view was that, in any major European crisis likely to affect the integrity of the Empire, Canada would ultimately throw her weight into the scale with the other Dominions.
