Their Excellencies the GovernorGeneral and Lady Galway, attended by Lieutenant S. R. Lombard-Hobson, R.N., A.D.C., left Wellington last night for Christchurch, where their Excellencies have undertaken to fulfil a number of official engagements. Lord and Lady Galway will return to Wellington on Sunday. Mr T. R. Barrer, of Masterton, left Wellington last night for the south by the steamer express.

The death occurred at the Pahiatua Hospital yesterday of Mrs W. Calton, sister of Messrs T. Parsons and C. Parsons, of Eketahuna, at the age of 43 years.

The death occurred at Waikanae on Sunday of Mr Robert F. Temple, at the age of 77 years. The late Mr Temple formerly resided in Masterton, where he was in business for many years. He was a brother of the late Mr F. W. Temple, of Masterton. The Rev G. T. Bellhouse, formerly of New Zealand, who has been in charge of Regent Square Presbyterian Church, London, for the past 12 years, has decided to accept a call to Westbourne Church, Glasgow, where he will succeed Dr Adam Burnet.

The death occurred yesterday of Mr Robert Willoughby Armit, of North Terrace, Kelburn, a much-respected member of a very well known Wellington family. Mr Armit was born in Wellington. For the last 35 years he had been associated with the oldest retail tobacconist’s business in Wellington. This was the business established by the late Mr C. Willeston over 60 years ago, carried on by the late Mr E. C. Batkin, and after his retirement by Mr Armit, in which capacity he became very well known and liked.
