WATER SHORTAGE
SERIOUS POSITION IN SYDNEY (By Telegraph—Press Association.) AUCKLAND, August 8. “With a water supply running low, and the season of highest consumption ahead, the Sydney Water Board is facing the most serious position in its history,” said Mr J. W. F. Dickson, an Auckland barrister, who returned by the Niagara. Mr Dickson said hoses had been banned for private use, and the authorities were considering drastic restrictions if the position were not relieved by early.spring rains. Other parts of Australia, notably Queensland, were experiencing good weather conditions.
