GIRL GUIDES
ACTIVITIES IN MASTERTON. RESIGNATION OF MRS JORDAN. A meeting of the Executive Committee of the Masterton Girl Guides’ Association was held in the Lecture Room Municipal Buildings on Monday afternoon. Mrs Jordan, District Commissioner, presided, and there were also present: Mesdames Hill, Corskie, Garland, Forsyth, Gaskin, Ractliffe, Hunter, Irving and Stewart. Apologies were received from Mesdames Thomson and Andrews. Routine business was transacted, and interesting annual reports were read from the Weraiti Company, the Tarawa Company and the Tarawa Brownie Pack. It was reported that the Dominion headquarters would open a branch shop in Wellington on August 10, where all types of guiding material -will .be stocked. It is hoped that parents and friends of guides will visit the shpp when in Wellington. A day of training for patrol leaders is to be held at Featherston on August 20, and a week’s training camp will be held at St. Matthew’s School during the last week of this month. Miss Knight, English Diploma Guider, will’ be present at both these-events. The executive received with very great regret the resignation of Mrs Jordan (District Commissioner), who has been associated with guiding in Masterton for more than 12 years. Mrs Hill in moving that a record should be placed in the minute book of the very valuable contribution Mrs Jordan had made to guiding, spoke of the unstinted service Mrs Jordan had always given. Her advice, wisdom and kindliness had encouraged both guiders and guides. Her resignation would be a very great loss to the movement. Mrs Hunter also spoke of the great interest and keenness Mrs Jordan had promoted in guiding. Her wise guidance had helped greatly in the development of personality and initiative in many of the young girls. Mrs Jordan’s resignation is to take effect at the end of November. Mrs Forsyth and Mrs Hill reported on delegates’ meetings they had attended during the month. Arrangements were made for the annual meeting which is to be held at the end of the month, when it is hoped Miss Knight, of England, will be present
