WEDDING
COLE-RAE (“Times-Age” Special). A very pretty wedding took place on Saturday at St Teresa’s Church, Featherston, when Gladyce Eileen, only daughter of Mr and Mrs R. J. Rae, Harrison Street, Featherston, was married to Thomas Francis, elder son of Mr and Mrs G. T. Cole, Western Lake Road, Featherston. The Rev Father Carmine officiated and also celebrated nuptial mass. The bridge, who was escorted by her father, wore a frock of deep cream satin cut on classical lines, the skirt of which fell to form a graceful train. Her embroidered veil was held in place by a halo of orange blossom. She carried a bouquet of Christmas roses, fresias and tulips. v The bride was attended by Miss May Mortlock (Auckland), cousin of the bride, and Miss Eileen Cole, the bridegroom’s sister. They were attired in frocks of apricot taffeta, made with a gathered bodice, puff sleeves, and a full skirt. They wore shoulder length veils of apricot net, and carried bouquets of camelias, hyacinths, heather and maidenhair fern. The two little flower girls, Honorah Cole and Molly Rae wore frocks of green taffeta made on similar lines to those of the bridesmaids and halo hats of net. They carried posies of daphne, heather and maidenhair fem. Mr James Bauche (Eketahuna) cousin of the bridegroom, was best man, and Mr lan Rae, brother of the bride, was groomsman. Mr Mervyn Rae and Mr Ted Mannell (Masterton) were ushers. The Children of Mary, of which the bride was a member, formed a guard of honour inside the church as she entered and outside as Mr and Mrs Cole left. The bride wore her blue cloak to the altar, where it was removed by the president. As she left the church the bride was presented with silver horseshoes by little Pamela Cherry and Elwyn Baker. Mrs Rae, assisted, by Mrs Cole, received the 140 guests at a reception in the'Anzac Hall. A feature of the bridal table wps the three-tier cake made by the bridegroom’s aunt (Mrs J. A. Ross, of Pahiatua) and decorated by his sister. The bridegroom’s grandmother, Mrs J. Goggin was present, and carried a posy of violets, daphne and maidenhair fern. Mrs F. Baucke, of Eketahuna, also an aunt of the bridgegroom, made all the bouquets. The bride travelled in a bottle green ensemble with hat to match. During the service the choir rendered several hymns and Mrs Allen Donald presided at the organ.
