FANCY DRESS BALL. (“Times-Age” Special.) The children’s fancy dress ball held by the Martinborough branch of the Labour Party in the Town Hall last night was a decided success from every point of view, the large attendance of children and adults spending a most enjoyable time. The judges were Mesdames Skill (Mayoress), Prussia and Te Heke Boyd. The following were the awards: — Best girl under 5 years: Sue Cook. •. Most original: Awhina Kaeo, Maori chieftainess. Best boy under 5 years: Dick Ramsden, 1; Tom Herrick, 2. Best girl 5 years to 9: Melva Morgan, 1; Pat Lynch, 2. Best boy, 5 to 9 years: Brian Grimstone, 1; George Herrick, 2. Best girl, 9 to 12 years: Betty Moffatt, 1; Nancy Chisholm, 2. Boys: John Turner, 1. Girls, over 12 years: Fanny McKinley, 1; June Lynch, 2. Boys: Angus Chisholm, 1. Best poster: 2ZB, Ashley Hayman. Best pair: Gavin and Gretta Banks. Most original: Rex Bonis (aged 2 years, “The All Black.”) Mr Ben Roberts, M.P., was present, and briefly addressed the gathering.
