SHEEPSKINS AND HIDES
WELLINGTON MARKET PRICES (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. Sheepskins sold in a firm market, but hides were rather irregular at the sale held yesterday by the Wellington brokers. The offering was an average one. Sheepskins: All grades were keenly competed for, and an excellent clearance was effected. Prices were fully firm, with an occasional rise of jd per lb. Hides: The market was somewhat erratic. Heavy and mediumweights declined to l-8d to Jd per lb, lightweights by l-8d to 3-8 d per lb, while kip advanced by l-8d to -Jd, yearling by Jd and calf to Jd to Id per lb. Tallow: There was an improved demand for good quality in shipping containers, which advanced by Is 6d per cwt. Broken Packages were unchanged. The range of prices is as follows: — Sheepskins: Halfbred, 7Jd to 93d: fine crossbred, 7Jd to’ 93d; medium crossbred, 63d to 9d; coarse crossbred, 7Jd to 8.3 d; half-wools, 6d to BJd; quar-ter-wools, 4d to 7Jd; pelts, 2Jd to 4fd. Salted skins: Half-wools, 3s 7d; three-quarter-wools, 4s 3d; full-wools, 5s 3d; lambs, 2s. Hides: Ox, 331 b to 441 b, 3Jd to 4Jd; 451 b to 521 b, 3 7-8 d to 53d; 531 b to 591 b, 23d to 6 3-8; 601 b to 691 b, 4d to 7d; 701 b and over, 5 3-8 d to 6 7-8 d; cow, 331 b to 391 b, 3 5-8 d to 4Jd; 401 b to 481 b, 3Jd to 43d; 491 b and over, 3 7-8 d to 43d; kip, 251 b to 321 b, 33d to 5 7-8 d; 171 b to 241 b, 33d to 7 3-8 d; yearling, 11 lb to 161 b, 4d' to 83d; calf, 91b to 101 b, 43d to 9d; 61b to 81b, sjd to 10 5-8 d; Ilb to 51b, 5d to 103 d. Tallow: In casks, 13s 9d to 16s 9d per cwt; in tins, 7s to 10s per cwt. Sundries: .Cow tails, to 10}d a dozen; horse hair, to 23Jd a lb.
