CATHEDRAL APPEAL. (Special to “Times-Age.”) There was a large attendance at a meeting held in the Anzac Hall last night in furtherance of the campaign to raise funds for the Wellington Centennial Cathedral and Bishop’s Fighting Fund. It was announced that the district’s response was now about £2200. ARBOR DAY. The school children commemorated Arbor Day yesterday by planting native trees in the school grounds. EUCHRE AFTERNOON. The Juvenile Concert Committee held a euchre afternoon at Mrs Boston’s home on Wednesday. The winners were Mrs Charles and Miss Eva Card. The consolation prize went to Mrs W. Card. GOLF. The following-is the draw for the Featherston Golf Club’s senior and junior championships, commencing on Saturday:— Seniors. —W. Rowles (bye); H. Bloxam v W. Jeffrey; G. O’Neale v W. Fountain; H. Wehipeihana (bye); K. Allen v T. Lang; R. Donald v N. Shepherd; J. McCallum v D. Kibblewhite; W. Crawford (bye). Juniors (bye); M. Benton v H. Lawson; J. Greig v J. W. Card; J. Davis (bye); L. Benton (bye); H.. Edwards v D. Carlyon; H. Lovegrove v I. Donald; H. McCarty (bye). The ladies played the fourth round for the Challenge Cup and Stableford competitions at the Gum Grove links yesterday. The results were: — Challenge Cup: Mrs Stockley 1, Miss Williams 2, Mrs McCarthy 3. Stableford competition: Mrs Stockley 1, Miss Williams and Mrs McCarthy 2, Mrs Davis 3. B Grade. —Mrs Lovegrove 1, Mrs Staples 2. FIRE BRIGADE. At the monthly meeting of the Featherston Volunteer Fire Brigade on Monday evening members stood in silence as a mark of sympathy with a life member, Mr J. H. Holland, in the death of his father. Donations from Messrs J. M. G. McKenzie and A. MoLeod, and three donations to the euchre evenings from Mr Ned Perry and a lady and gentleman supporter were received with thanks. it was decided that the members of the Brigade attend monthly church parades beginning on the third Sunday in August. The question of a siren to replace the bell on the fire engine was held over until the cost of a suitable machine was obtained. The Fire Brigade held its weekly card tournament in the Anzac Hall on Tuesday. The winners were Mrs F. Crawford 1, Mrs F. Kinsey 2; Mr J. Rae 1, Mr Campbell 2,
