FRUIT IMPORTS
CANADIAN TRADE RETURNS. OTTAWA, Canada. Imports of fruit into Canada in April last were valued at 1,018,047 dollars, of which the United States provided 859,273 dollars and Jamaica 95,083 dollors. Imported oranges, mandarines and tangerines were of the' value of 542,805 dollars, grapefruit 112,475 dollars, bananas 154,281 dollars, pineapples 25,552 dollars and strawberries 67,905 dillors. On the other hand total exports of fresh fruits were valued at 165,393 dollars, mainly fresh apples of which Germany took 106,376 dollars and the United Kingdom 56,398 dollars. Imports of canned and preserved fruits were valued at 85,945 dollars. Spain was the leading source of supply with a total of 19,757 dollars, followed by the United States at 18,124 dollars, Straits Settlements 12,267 dollars and Australia 10,957 dollars. The leading exports were as follows: Canned pears 35,835 dollars, canned apples 10,882 dollars, peaches 4,812 dollars.
