EWE TROUBLE

• CURE FOR SLEEPING SICKNESS. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) DANNEVIRKE, Aug. 3. ■ Considerable success in the treatment of sleeping sickness in ewes has been achieved by Mr S. K. Carswell, agriculture master at Dannevirke High School. Experiments with several badly affected ewes were carried out, subcutaneous injections of a solution of calcium glucomate giving 100 per cent cures. During the past 14 days 200 sheep have been treated, some as a preventive measure and some as a cure. It has been found that the initial injection in each case has restored activity within 15 minutes, but that a crisis develops in 24 to 36 hours in severe cases. In these cases a second injection has proved entirely successful.
