MEASLES‘ON THE WANE. (“Times-Age” Special). r Reports from Greytown indicate that the measles epidemic is on the wane. CHEESE FACTORY OPENED. The Greytown Cheese factory opened for the season yesterday morning. ST LUKE’S GUILD SOCIAL. The St Luke’s Ladies Guild held a most enjoyable social evening in the Parish ' Hall last night. The price of admission was by an apron in the pocket of which one contributed a halfpenny for each inch per waist measure. This brought in £7 7s Id. The evening was devoted to competitions, games and dancing. The following contributed items: —Miss Josie Dennes (recitation), Master Alan Carter (piano accordeon solo), Mrs Robinson (solos), Miss Keddell (recitations), and Mrs A. G. Peterson (solos). The lucky parcel (a pretty apron) was won by Mrs F. Judd. The Community Choirs competition was won by the boys’ and girls’ choir under the direction of Miss M. Webster. Mrs Sykes donated the prizes for the competitions. Mr and Mrs E. Graham were M.’sC. and Mrs H. G. Carter and Master Alan Carter supplied the music. The singing of the National Anthem brought a happy evening to a close.
