CARTERTON
NATIONAL PARTY BALL. (“Times-Age” Special.) A very successful ball under the auspices of the Carterton branch of the National Party was held last evening at the State Theatre. There was a large attendance, visitors being present from all parts of the Wairarapa, and also'from Lower Hutt and WellingtonThe supper (all donated) was on a very generous scale. The tables were tastefully decorated, the predominating colours being red, white and blue. The duties of M.C. were capable carried out by Messrs V. J. Ashton and Jack Manley. Udy’s orchestra supplied the music. Extras were played by a number of visitors. A THANKS OFFERING. At the St Mark’s Church on Sunday evening, the Bishop of Wellington unveiled and dedicated a beautiful Reredos carved in wood. The Reredos was donated by Mr and Mrs L. J. Harding, of Carterton, who are members of the church, as a thanks offering. NEW SCHOOLMASTER. The new headmaster of the Carterton School,'Mr Fossett, will take up his duties at the beginning of the next term, namely, on September 5. PERSONAL. Mr E. A. Croad, of Rongotea, and formerly of Carterton, has sold out his interests in Rongotea, and purchased a business at Palmerston North. Miss L. Moody, of “Notting Hill,” Waihakeke, has entered the Greytown Hospital for treatment. Mr and Mrs S. Green and Mr Stan Green junr, Carterton, are on a holiday, which is being spent in Walton and Rotorua.
SNOWBALLERS DAMAGE CARS. - Included in those who suffered damage to his car, through the unwelcome attention of snowbailers on the Rimutaka Hill on Sunday was Mr M. Worsfold, of Carterton. Quite a number of broken windscreens and side windows were reported by motorists.
