ALLEGED THEFTS
ACCUSED BANK CLERK TO STAND TRIAL. (Recd This Day, 11.5 a.m.) BRISBANE, This Day. Cecil Roberts Trotman Foote, a clerk, aged 37, was committed for trial on six charges of theft from the National Bank of Australasia. Foote pleaded not guilty and reserved his defence. A message from Brisbane on June 28 stated that the amount involved was approximately £69,000. The police said that the accused had admitted the defalcations, saying that he had paid about £50,000 to' one bookmaker and between £15,000 and £20,000 to another.
