STRIKE THREAT
ATTITUDE OF AUSTRALIAN MINERS FEARS OF GENERAL HOLD-UP ON THURSDAY. ON OCCASION OF MEMORIAL SERVICES. By Telegraph—Press Association. Copyright. (Recd This Day, 11.5 a.m.) SYDNEY, This Day. It. is feared in some quarters ■ that the proposed memorial services, to be held by miners on Thursday in memory of the men who lost their lives in pit disasters last year, may develop into a one day strike throughout Australia. The services are to be held simultaneously with the opening of the Miners’ National Convention in Sydney, to consider the question of a general strike for improved conditions. Miners employed at the South Bulli Colliery decided not to work yesterday as a protest against what they regarded as inadequate inspection of the mine by the Minister of Labour and Industry, Mr Mair, on his recent official visit.
