INCIDENT AT GOLF CLUB/ How a detective inspector keeping watch at a golf club was himself robbed was described in London recently. In the dock Henry George Lenton King, of Hampstead, was charged with stealing a gold watch, valued at £9O, the property of Detective Inspector William Clarke, of the East Suffiolk County Police. It was stated that observation was kept by the police on the cloakroom at the Ipswich Golf Club house. Detective Inspector Clarke described how he stopped King as he was about to leave with a bag of golf clubs, and told him: “I have had my watch stolen from the cloakroom.”
