MORE RIOTING
♦ MANY KILLED & INJURED IN RANGOON M additional battalion BROUGHT IN MARKET AND PAGODA AREAS GUARDED (Recd This Day, 9.15 a.m.) RANGOON, July 31. Further rioting in eight districts has brought casualties to 67 killed and 420 injured. /i The King’s Royal Rifles, from Maymyo, have arrived at Mandalay, and are guarding the market and pagoda areas. The police were compelled to fire on rioters in the suburb of Insein. The trouble now seems to be extending to the suburbs generally, and the military police have been instructed to shoot anyone of any nationality attacking or looting.
