HEAVY SLIP
WAIHI- PAEROA RAILWAY BLOCKED. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WAIHI, This Day. Owing to a big slip on the WaihiPaeroa section of the main line between Auckland and Tauranga, all traffic between these points has been suspends). Only yesterday the WaihiPaeroa section of the main highway was reopened for traffic following on numrrsus slips as a result of Tuesday • -■'-•7s deluge. ENGINE BURIED. M7MBERS CF TRAIN CREW escape INJURY.. 'By Telegraph-—Press Association.) AUCKLAND,.This Day. The engine of a goods train was buried by a slip and twelve wagons were derailed, while travelling to Auckland between Paeroa and Waihi at thre> o’clock this morning. The engine crew and guard escaped injury. There was no serious damage, but traffic will be held up at least till the middle of the afternoon. The train ran into a slip from a very high bank. When it pulled up, there were some trucks on either side of the slip. A second slip came down and buried the engine. The-line may be sufficiently clear to allow the 2.20 Thames express to get through. Meanwhile train passengers and mails are being transferred byroad. Slips have occurred on roads in the vicinity.
