Messrs G. V. Barna and L. Beliak, Hungarian table tennis players, left Wellington by air yesterday for Auckland.
The Hon F. Jones, Minister of Defence, will leave Wellington tonight for the South Island. He expects to be away from Wellington for about a week.
The Rev Father B. F. Blake, S.M., formerly of Christchurch, has completed the B.A. degree in French at Oxford University. Father Blake, who was on the teaching staff of St Bede’s College, left for England two years ago under a scheme begun by the Society of Mary to give advanced training at universities in England and Europe to teachers for its colleges. Mr C. R. Barnicoat, formerly ol Massey Agricultural College, Palmerston North, has been awarded the degree of doctor of philosophy by the University of Minnesota. Dr Barnicoat, who was awarded a fellowship from the commonwealth fund for special dairy research, has been in the United States for two years. He will be returning to New Zealand toward the end of the year after spending a short time in Europe.
