LODGE RITUAL COMPETITION. (“Times-Age” Special.) Some excellent ritual work was witnessed on Monday evening when the officers of Loyal Eketahuna Lodge, M.U., 1.0.0. F., journeyed to Pahiatua for the bi-annual ritual competition with Loyal Mangatainoka Lodge for the Farrow Shield. Both teams did splendidly and after a spirited contest Mangatainoka were awarded the honours. The Judges, P.D.G.M. Bro Gray (Eketahuna) and P.G. Bro T. W. Watts. (Mangatainoka) commented favourably on the high standard of ritual work. MINIATURE RIFLE SHOOTING. In connection with the Nireaha Miniature Rifle Club’s competitions the following have been recent results: — First shoot: Rifleman R. Shannon won the trophy after a shoot-off with others. The scores were: N. Petersen (scr), 96; W. Manser,' 95-1-96; F. Sigvertsen, 961- L. J. Sigvertsen, 96-2-98; M. Stewart, 99-1-99; L. Lilley, 95-4-99; W. Terry, 89-6-95; G. Terry, 56-8-64; L. Gibson, 74-9-83; R. Shannon, 96-3-99; S. R. Blewett, 88-8-96. The second shoot, the first of a series of three for the Drysdale cup, resulted in the following scores being returned: N. Petersen, 95-1-96; W. Manser, 93-2-95; F. Sigvertsen, 962- L. Sigvertsen, 93-2-95; M. Stewart, 94-scr-94; W. Terry, 96-8-99; G. Terry, 85-10-95; B. Davidson, 67-8-75; Q. Hanson, 91-8-99; L. Gibson, 82-12-94; R. Shannon, 95-2-97; K. Death, 82 1 - 15-97. CARD TOURNAMENT.

At the usual fortnightly card tournament at Rongomai the winners were: Ladies, Mrs Gustofsen 1, Miss H. Eagle 2. Men: Mr W. Evans 1, Mr L. Collett 2. Dancing was indulged in after the card tournament, the music being supplied by Mr L. Brannigan. INSTITUTE BIRTHDAY. The birthday celebration in connection with the Nireaha Women’s Institute was a most successful affair, the visitors including residents of Masterton and Carterton and other parts of the Wairarapa. The early part of the evening was set aside for the young children. Under the conductorship of Mrs Dysart and Mr Duncan, the school children entertained with dances, recitations, items, etc, until 9.30. At the conclusion of the juvenile programme little Shirley Davis presented Mrs J. P. Petersen (president of the Women’s Institute) with a bouquet, and Master Bruce Burr thanked all who had helped with the arrangements for the function. Novelty dances on the children’s programme were won as follow: — Lucky Cup, Dora Dryden and Olive Davis; Lucky Spot, Noelene Goss and Beryl Willows. In the adult dances, the winners of the novelty dances were: Monte Carlo, Mrs J. Brookes and Mr J. R. Mason; Hat Dance, Mrs S. Davis and Mr F. Goggin; Lucky Spot, Miss B. Butler and Mr E. Goss; first couple on floor, Mrs J. R. Mason and Mr A. E. Holloway.
