SUBSTANTIAL INCREASE IN ESTIMATES VOTE HIGHER BY £4,500,000 OVER LAST YEAR’S. FIVE MILLIONS ALLOCATED FOR MAIN HIGHWAYS. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. The Public Works Estimates tabled in the House of Representatives yesterday show the estimated amount required to be voted for the year 1938-39 in the general purposes account to be £10,119,000, as against £6,122,918 expended last year —an increase of £3,996,082. Taking into consideration the electric supply account the total vote in the Public Works Fund is £ll,675,030, as against £7,130,883 expended last year —an increase of £4,544,147. In the separate account for main highways the vote this year is £5,037,200, compared with £4,031,728 expended last year —an increase of £1,005.472. This year’s votes, in detail, compared with the amounts expended last
