LONDON’S SHIPPING
OVER MILLION TONS IN WEEK. During the week ended June 24, 986 vessels, representing 1,043,258 net register tons, used the Port of London. Of these 532 vessels (865,567 net register tons) were to and from Empire and foreign ports and 454 vessels (177,691 net register tons) were engaged in coastwise traffic. The arrivals included eleven meat cargoes, viz: Five from Australia, three from New Zealand and three from South America, comprising 490,000 carcases of lamb and mutton, 175,000 quarters of beef, quantities of pork, rabbits and sundries.
Twenty-four timber laden vessels docked in the Surrey Commercial and India and Millwall Docks with 35,000 tons of softwood.
