BRIDE-TO-BE

ENTERTAINED AT PARTY. Miss Aila Beetham, a much-feted Masterton bride-to-be, whose wedding will take place on Saturday, was the guest of honour at a delightful bridge party given by Misses Betty and Nancy Payton at their home, “Brookflelds,” Masterton. Vases of coloured leaves and stilosi brightened the drawingroom, and Mrs Payton, wearing a London Tan frock, helped her daughters to receive the guests; Miss Betty Payton wore a black woollen dress with sequinned collar and hem, and Miss Nancy Payton was in a brown light woollen ensemble. The guests brought gifts of prettily-covered coat hangers for Miss Beetham, one being appropriately decorated with orange blos : som. Miss Beetham was also lucky enough to win the bridge prize. Those present were Mrs Eric Homewood, Mrs T. C. H. Miller, and Mrs Philip Hawksworth, and Misses Maxine McLaren, Jocelyn Betts, Jose Hosking, Nora Beetham, Doreen Kennedy, Peggy Sellar, Nancy Carrick and Patricia Jordan.

Miss Beetham is to be the guest of honour at further parties this week, among the host and hostesses being Mr and Mrs J. V. Reid (Longbush), Mesdames N. Irwin, J. Bird and H. M. A. Major, and Misses Lois Hosking and J. Rutherford.
