SERVICES RECOGNISED
CHURCH WORKERS FAREWELLED SEVERAL PRESENTATIONS. Mr and Mrs W. Penistone and Miss Penistone, who have been active members of St Matthew’s Parish for many years, will leave Masterton this week to take up their residence in Levin. Mrs Penistone was farewelled recently by St Matthew’s Ladies’ Guild and a presentation made to her. At Upper Plain, where the family has been associated with the church and Sunday school since its inception a large gathering thanked them for all that they had done and presentations were made to them. At St Matthew’s Church on Sunday night, following the evening service, the congregation gathered in the Parish Hall. The Rev E. J. Rich spoke of the great services rendered by Mr and Mrs Penistone, wished them every happiness in their new home, and expressed the hope that eventually they would return to Masterton. The Vestry then made a presentation on behalf of parishioners to Mr and Mrs Penistone. Mr Penistone feelingly responded.
