WEDDING. * KNOTTS—SHIRKEY. (“Times-Age” Special). The marriage .took place at Featherston Presbyterian Church on Saturday night of Ivy, third daughter of Mr and Mrs J. Shirkey, Featherston, to John Gleeson, eldest son of Mr and Mrs Knotts, Christchurch. The Rev R. S. Keenan performed the ceremony, while Mrs Keenan presided at the organ. The bride, who was escorted by her father, wore a beautiful frock of magnolia ivory satin. Her bouquet was comprised of camelias, carnations, jonquils and maiden-hair fern. The bride’s sister, Florence, who was bridesmaid, wore a frock of taffeta blue. Her bouquet was similar to that of the bride. After the ceremony a reception was held in the Odd , Fellows’ Hall. Mrs Shirkey, mother of the bride, welcomed the guests, her frock being of navy blue figured silk. After the usual toasts Mr and Mrs Frank Irvine (Wellington) gave musical items. The Misses Hickey (Dannevirke), wellknown accordion players, delighted the gathering with their playing. Mr George Boyce was the M.C. Mr and Mrs Knotts later left by motor for the north, the bride’s travelling dress being a smart navy blue costume with hat to match. Their future home will be in Wellington. GOLF MEDAL ROUND. A medal round was held on Saturday. The following were the best cards handed in:—G. Jackson 103-35-68; M. Benton 107-34-73; R. Donald 87-12-75; J. Davis 95-20-75; J. W. Card 97-20-77; T. Hardie 95-15-80. The fourth round for the shield will be played next Saturday, and the return match with Pirinoa, at Featherston, on Sunday. FAREWELL TO MR AND MRS RANKIN. The settlers of Pahautea gave a farewell social in the Pahautea Hall on Saturday night to Mr and Mrs Rankin, who will shortly leave for the Pahiatua district. Mr Bargh, in a neat speech, presented Mr Rankin with a cheque and fountain pen, and . Mrs Rankin with a rug. Mr H. Graham gave a humorous recitation and led the community sing. After supper dancing was enjoyed, the function conclud-, ing with the singing of “Auld Lang Syne.” PERSONAL. Mr G. Nikolaison, Pahautea, left last week for Norsewood, where he is to be married shortly. Mr John Bidwill, son of Mr and Mrs J. Came Bidwill, Pahautea, returned on Thursday from Cambridge, England.

CHURCH WORKERS FAREWELLED. ■ A farewell evening was tendered to Mr and Mrs Booth in the Parish Hall on Friday night. The Rev J. T. Holland spoke in appreciation of Mr Booth’s work as a vestry man and choir worker, stressing his keenness and devotion. He hoped that Mr Booth in his future home would find a church where he could continue his untiring interest and good work. Mr Holland expressed regret that owing to the short notice of the departure of Mr and Mrs Booth the parishioners had not had time to decide upon a fitting recognition of their services. He stated that this would follow at an early date?. Mr Bloxam, speaking on behalf of the choir, said that Mr Booth would be greatly missed, not only as choirmaster and organist, but as a friend whose zeal and tact were appreciated. Miss Mutter then presented Mr Booth with a Cathedral Prayer Book and Hymn Book, and Mrs Booth with a revised version of the Prayer Book. Mr Booth, in replying, expressed his thanks for kind remarks and gave a brief resume of his life in New Zealand, mentioning that when he lived far from a church he missed the music very much. It had been a pleasure to be associated with the choir, and he emphasised what a help their loyalty had been to him. Items were given by the choir and Mr K. Allen. Apologies for absence were received from Mr D. H. S. Riddiford and Mr D. C. Collins. Supper brought an enjoyable function' to a close.
