DISTRICT SCOUTS
WAIRARAPA COMMITTEE. MEETING AT CARTERTON. A meeting of the Wairarapa District Scout Committee was held in the Fire Brigade Room, Carterton. In the absence of the District Chairman (Mr A. C. Pearce), Mr N. C. C. Shepherd occupied the chair. Accounts amounting to 14s 2d were passed for payment subject to funds being available. The secretary reported that there was a credit at the Post Office Savings Bank of 6d. It was resolved to hold the district rally as usual and that the event take place in Eketahuna, subject to the Eketahuna Committee accepting the offer. It was reported that the Carterton Scouts were being reformed and that the services of Mr Barclay as Scoutmaster was available. The Commissioner, Mr Shepherd, congratulated the Carterton Group on coming to life again. The Commissioner thanked the Chairman and helpers who arranged the presentation function in honour of the late District Cubmaster. Mr Shepherd congratulated all on the success achieved. A visitor in the person of-Mr Gaze, late District Cubmaster in Wanganui, was present and was accorded a hearty welcome. The District Commissioner said that he hoped Mr Gaze would remain in this part for some time. Mr Gaze suitably replied. The • Secretary reported that there were nine Wairarapa Scouters and scouts who were endeavouring to make the trip to Sydney for the Scout Jamboree. It was resolved to hold the next District meeting in Greytown on Monday evening, September 19. It was also agreed to call a meeting of District Scout Officers to be held one week prior to the Executive meeting. A vote of thanks was passed to the Chairman and to the Fire Brigade for the use of the room.
