SCHOOL GAMES. WAIRARAPA v DANNEVIRKE. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) DANNEVIRKE, July 22. In the girls’ secondary school hockey matches, Wairarapa College against Dannevirke High School, played at Dannevirke, the junior game was drawn, there being no score, after’ a very even game. The Wairarapa girls showed better control of the ball, but the Dannevirke defence was sound. In the senior game Dannevirke 5 beat Wairarapa 4. At half-time the score was 2-all. Goals were scored for Dannevirke by P. Donaldson (2), and for Wairarapa by B. Marks and E. Hanley. In the second spell Dannevirke dominate’d the play, to run up the 5-2 lead, P. Donaldson, J. Bradley and A. Gunderson scoring. Wairarapa caused a sensational finish, scoring two goals (by E. Hanley and A. Davis) in the last minute. Betty Howard, the Wairarapa goalkeeper, and Georgina Enoka, of the Dannevirke team, were outstanding players.
