FEILDING SALE (By Telegraph—Press Association.) FEILDING, July 22. Although there was only a small yarding in all sections of the stock sale today, business was firm, albeit quiet, with little change in rates. Fat sheep were not in great demand, although a few pens of wethers made good figures, as did also an odd pen of lambs. For store sheep the market had a much brighter tone and most lines changed hands at satisfactory figures. There was little selection in the store cattle pens beyond the' usual offering of boner beef and a few head of yearlings, all of which sold at late rates. The beef market was lifeless, but for dairy cattle there was ag reatly improved demand, good quality cows nearing profit making over £l2. CARTERTON SALE Wright Stephenson and Co. Ltd. report:—A good yarding of cattle and a small yarding of sheep and pigs came forward at our Carterton sale yesterday. All classes of stock sold on a par with late rates and practically a total clearance was effected under the hammer as follows:— Cattle: —3 year Jersey heifers, on drop, £8 to £lO 10s; spg. 2 and 3 year Red Poll Jersey cross heifers, £6 5s to £8 ss; spg Jersey heifers, £4 to £6 10s; Jersey cross cows, due August, £7 10s to £10; fat cows, £4 5s to £5 16s; forward cows, £3 to £4 Is; store cows, £2 to £2 18s.
