STATE THEATRE

DOUBLE FEATURE PROGRAMME. The rough-and-ready West roars into romantic Hawaii for rousing outdoor adventure in “Hawaiian Buckaroo,” starring Smith Ballew, noted singing cowboy of the screen, showing tonight at the State Theatre. The film brings the virile drama and action-filled pace of the great Southwest to the paradise isle of the Pacific for the first time. Swaggering into trouble and scrapping his way out with lilting cowboy songs on his lips, a trouble-busting cowpuncher heads for a far-off danger quest on the relentless trail of rustlers from the hills of Arizona to the shores of Waikiki. Evalyn Knapp, in the role of the owner of one of Hawaii’s pasturelands, is romantically featured. The cast includes George Regas, Pat O’Brien and Harry Woods. The mystery man of the mystic. Orient, “Mr Moto,” matches strength with cunning and outwits those who would plunder the hidden tomb of Genghis Khan. It is the newest and most expiting adventure of the celebrated sleuth in “Thank You, Mr Moto,” starring Peter Lorre, which will open tonight at the State Theatre. Featured roles in the film are played by Thomas Beck, Pauline Frederick, Jayne Regan, Sidney Blackmer, Sig Rumann and John Carradine. There will be a matinee at 2.15 p.m. tomorrow.
