A Golf Record.
The Australian golfer T. S. McKay made history in the first round of the British open golf championship. He equalled a record, and though it will ■always remain in his memory, it will do so as the blemish of his career. McKay took 14 strokes at the fourteenth hole, a score which had only once before been made in the championship. He was three times out of bounds. Audacious Car Theft. Stolen from outside a hotel in Palmerston North on a recent night, a small car was found the fallowing morning about four miles from Levin stripped of practically every part that was removable. Two wheels and tyres, carburettor, generator, both headlamps, coils, tools, distributor, and also a rug inside the car were taken. The culprits even took one of the sparking plugs, and there are signs that an attempt was made to remove the head of the engine.
