OUTSTANDING SUCCESS

CARTERTON MOVIE BALL. GATHERING LAST NIGHT. (“Times-Age” Special.) The State Theatre, Carterton, was the scene of almost unprecedented revelry last night on the occasion of the second annual Movie Ball. The hall was crowded to the doors with dancers from all parts of the district, who all spent a thoroughly bright and enjoyable time. The organisation of the ball was excellent, and reflected great credit on Mr R. T. Forbes, who was responsible for the arrangements. Characterisations of movie stars were numerous and in almost every case were of a high standard. Several novelty items added to the enjoyment of those present. Splendid music was supplied by Udy’s Orchestra. The prize winners were: Best set, “Victoria the Great,” Mrs R. T. Forbes; best single, “Akim Tamiroff,” Mr J. Patterson; best couple, “The Awful Truth,” Mr and Mrs K. Goodin; best humorous, “Hayseeds Come to Town,” a party of nurses from the Greytown Hospital. A clever and graceful exhibition dance was given by Ralph and Valerie Wilkin. The ball was undoubtedly one of the most successful held in Carterton for some considerable time, and from an entertainment point of view left nothing to be desired.
