THE BUDGET
PRESENTATION TOMORROW EVENING HEALTH AND SUPERANNUATION SCHEME (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. The presentation of the Budget tomorrow night by the Minister of Finance, the Hon W. Nash, will be the main event in the House of Representatives this week. The financial debate will be .opened the following evening by the'Leader of the Opposition, the Hon Adam Hamilton, who will be followed by the Prime Minister, the Rt Hon M. J. Savage. They will be the only speakers that evening. “There is nothing in the Budget that will be likely to set the country alight,” said Mr Savage in an interview last evening. “At the same time it will be a fairly comprehensive document, and will naturally contain a record of the Government’s work during its first term of office.” Certain features of the Budget were explained to members of the Parliamentary Labour Party at a caucus yesterday morning. The Prime Minister explained last evening, however, that the main purpose of the caucus was to discuss the social security legislation, the drafting of which was by no means an easy task. Both the superannuation and health service schemes would be embodied in one Bill.
