Listen to the Bagpipes.
The usual serenity of the Masterton Borough Council meeting was disturbed last night in an unusual way. Councillors had no sooner settled themselves down to business when the melody of bagpipes from a neighbouring room brought broad smiles on tne faces of the Mayor and councillors, who looked from one to the other with much suppressed laughter. The Borough Engineer had the honour of being piped to his seat. Serious business appeared to be out of the question while the pipes continued and it was somewhat significant that following the departure of the Borough Inspector for a few minutes the music ceased.
