WEDDING

. ASTWOOD—BLISS. (“Times-Age” Special.) A wedding of considerable interest was celebrated at St. Mark’s Church, Carterton, on Saturday afternoon, when Miss Florence Bliss, second daughter, of Mr and Mrs E. T. Bliss (well known settlers of Parkvale, Carterton, and formerly of the Eketahuna district), was married to William, second son of Mr and Mrs T. Astwood, of Mount Messenger, New Plymouth. The bride, who was escorted by her father, was charmingly attired in a gown of cream embossed cloque, cut on classical lines. Her beautiful veil, lent by a friend, was held in place by orange blossoms, and the bouquet was a sheath of beautiful white cyclamen and camellias. Miss Violet Bliss, a sister of the bride, was bridesmaid, and was daintily dressed in a slim fitting frock of Marina blue chenille embossed satin. The coronet was of daphne and cherry blossoms, while the exquisite bouquet was of pink cyclamen and camellias. Mr Albert Steffson, of Wellington, was best man. The officiating clergyman was the Rev. W. F. Stent, Vicar of St. Marks. Mrs F. G. Bath presided at the organ. A reception was afterwards held at the Parkvale Hall, when guests from Taranaki, Dannevirke, Nireaha, Wellington, as well as various parts of the Wairarapa were entertained and toasts appropriate to the occasion were honoured enthusiastically. The wedding cake was very kindly made by a very old friend of the family, Mrs E. Drysdale, of Nireaha. Mrs E. T. Bliss received the guests assisted by her sister, Mrs Nairn, of Eltham, Taranaki. Mrs Bliss was in a navy blue ensemble, and Mrs Nairn also wore navy with accessories to tone. Both wore shoulder sprays of daphne and cherry blossoms made by Miss G. Parker, of Parkvale. Mr and Mrs W. Astwood left afterwards by car for the North, and will eventually take up their residence at Nireaha. The bride travelled in a model gown with overdress of French fur cloth, coat of mole, with accessories in brown to tone.
